Salinity is rising

So I'm doing a water change today and went to measure what the tank is currently at and I'm getting a reading of 1.029. I habe cleaned and recalibrated my refractometer and tested multiple times and keep getting this reading.

I have been doing daily top offs with ro water that is reading 0.

First question is obviously what could be causing salinity to rise in the first place.

I know that I need to bring it back down slowly but second question is how slow. Are those couple points something I can achieve I one day or should it be lowered over the next couple of days?

I'd lower it over a week.

I agree with the calibration fluid. Also if you are dosing magnesium that will add to the salinity. Some other supplements are salt based as well.

I have some fluid if you want to calibrate. Feels like a waste to spend 7$ on what is a 30 seconds test.

Your welcome to take some with you if you have a little glass vial to store. If i calibrated once a month, this bottle would last me 20 years

Will you by chance be at the swap? It'd be awesome if I could get a small amount from you
