Salinity probe reliable?

Looking to upgrade my apex lite and get a salinity probe. When they came out they seemed to be sketchy and not reliable. I use the apex for my ato to control a valve on my ro. If there's a leak it will constantly pour water in. Will email me if on too long, actually I need to fix that part. I'm thinking if I add a salinity probe and a 5gal full of super salty water it'll be helpful for the tank and provide better redundancy.

Are they reliable enough to run a program? Or still mostly a novelty. I don't trust my refractometer much anymore.

Does anyone use the probe? Just curious about how well they work

I have the conductivity probe. It's the PITA (Pain in the @#$) to calibrate but once you have it placed correctly under heavy flow in your sump and slightly angled to allow bubbles to escape and the temp probe plugged into my PM2 module so the conductivity probe adjusts for temperature compensation,

Sure, it works fine ..

As with any system, have redundent backups on everything you do , especially top off!!

It does appear also that it does some settling for a few days then runs fine:)
