In some cases, I noted a greater amount of expansion (which I suspect is all due to osmosis and the greater conc. of H2O), but that isn't necessarily a reliable method of judging the health or 'happiness' of a particular specimen. I would suggest keeping it between 1.026-1.027 or around 35ppt.

ditto. A salinity monitor is a great gadget for accuracy too. Make sure you calibrate your refractometer against one that someone else has if nothing else. I found my refractometer off by .02 even though I 0'd it out with ro/di water.

35ppt here

skip the specific gravity reading.. it is temperature dependant and can be misleading in conversation.

i have a refractometer, and am slowly raising it up to 1.026.. i was running at 1.0245 before not 1.023.. i kept my previous tank always at 1.0265..just wondered what everyone else was running..
