Salt group buy?

A couple of people mentioned to me that they need salt.

Is anyone interested in ordering some and splitting shipping?

I think petsolutions has a max shipping of $17 so that may be the cheapest.

I am open to other suggestions also if we find a place cheaper. I am
thinking of ordering next week. This doesn't have to be limited to salt though.

If I place the order and know you I will front the money. If I don't know you, you will have to pay me upfront.

I am not sure what all brand they sell. I use Reef Crystals, I know they have that but I am going to have to see if the can get the 200 gallon box for the same price they have on line. I am picking up a bucket on Tuesday, I'll try and remember to ask what all brands they sell.
 
I'd want a bucket of Reef Crystals. I know Drs. Foster Smith has 5.99 shipping currently. The price of Reef Crystals is $2 more than PetSolutions but, they should match the price.

Is that $5.99 per bucket? Petsolutions is $17 no matter how many you order.
 
No, it is a flat rate $5.99 no matter how heavy. Of course, if you have 5 people, you're talking about saving $2, which isn't really much of anything. Do they price match everything, or just salt mixes?
 
We had talked about a large group buy through a local LFS (where we meet of course)... (we should talk about this at the last meeting of the year and/or through the club mailing list). The idea is to pick a product every MONTH or every other month to organize a special group price on for purchase. The idea being that these are products that every member uses in bulk and orders as needed instead of buying at the LFS. I think if we can get the entire clubs interest, we can negotiate a price that will rival the mail order, simply by using the logic that we are directing sales to the LFS that would otherwise go to an online vendor most of the time.

For this to work, we would need a large portion of the member base to take advantage of the effort so that the LFS could justifty the reduced price and effort it would take to organize the buy. When I say BULK order... It would be folks signing on for 3, 4 or more buckets of salt so that we could get pallet (or even better multiple pallet) size orders.

I checked today and they told me that the only salt that they get is IO and RC.
 
yeah sorry I meant to post that and forgot. I was down there a few weeks ago and asked.

The only place that has red sea that I know of is elmers at 69$ a bucket
