If you take your hydrometer and compare it to a properly calibrated refractometer from a LFS you can put a mark on your hydrometer where you want your salinity at. Make sure all bubbles are off the swing arm.

also make sure to keep it nice and rinsed out. i use a freshwater vinegar solution and shake it up real good and rinse it. it reads right on with my refractometer
