salt on rock - problem?

So my tank is just now almost at the end of its cycle. In conversation, I mentioned that my salinity was a little low, so my gf decided it was a good idea to just dump a cup of salt into the DT. I was unaware of this until I noticed that a few of my rocks had white tops. I tried to turn my Koralias to blow right onto the rocks, which caused some of it to blow of, but after a few hours, the white was still there. Luckily there is no livestock in the tank, other than some CUC. What should I do here - remove the rock and brush it off, or try to brush it off while it is in the tank?

Was it reef salt or table salt? I would take a turkey baster and blast the salt up into the water flow and it should dissovle.

If it is table salt, I would re-test my water to make sure my params are still OK.

it was reef salt. i have also tried that. I'm not sure how, but it is attached pretty well to the rock.

Just dropping salt in any tank is no good. U want to mix in a seperate container before adding to main tank and use powerhead for water flow to help mix.

If you can get it mixed up it should not be a problem. Just put a lot of water flow on it and it will dissolve, just might take some time.

Thats what I figured. I plan on waiting a while before adding any livestock, so it should have plenty of time. The PHs will be pointed directly at the rocks in the mean time.

Undisolved salt can burn corals, just keep that in mind if you ever start seeing white spots, especially noticeable on things like plating monti's.
