IO, & RC get the same job done, just as any other salt out there, IMO.

purchase cost, easy mixing, clarity after mixing have nothing to do with the question at hand. I'd love to hear the question answered.

I'm pretty sure cost, ease of mixing, and availability answer the question below.

According to the OP, he wanted to know in his first question:

The simple question: What salt do you use and why? I'm looking more specifically for answers that involve trace elements pertaining to coral health and growth. Even more specifically, in reference to SPS.

I could be wrong, but I think people are making this question out to be more difficult than what the OP wanted to know.
