Salt prices

Anybody know why salt prices are going up so high?

I normally buy my salt, Reef Crystals, from DFS.
At the end of last year, their sale price for Reef Crystals was $31.99. IO was $29.59
They have really cheap shipping so it was worth it to order several 160g buckets at one time.

I just got the newest DFS catalog and their price for Reef Crystals is up to $51.99 for the 160g bucket or the 200g box.
IO is $44.99 bucket or box. Their shipping is still really cheap, but the prices for the salt way up.

Anybody know why salt prices are up 60% over late last year?

If anyone is interested in getting some RC or IO salt at last years prices, DFS is still accepting orders on their last years prices until 4/30/09 with the right catalog/item number.

I wish I knew why!

I called Jack's in Findley this past week looking for some salt, $46.99 for a bucket of IO! Wow.

Just went to PSP in Toledo and got it for $39.99. Not bad but not great either.

BTW: The prices wholesale went up as well. My buddy just got his updated list two weeks ago. About a $5-$8 rise.

Myself and a friend went in together and bought 8 buckets of Reef Crystals. For the price, we could afford to stock up and split the shipping.
