Salt study results from MACNA conference

The preliminary results are out - Red Sea & Reef Crystal are sort of tied for best and Instant Ocean was the worst out of the 10 tested....

Eric Borneman and Kim Lowe gave their presentation this morning - the study was only finished two days ago and so the data has not been completely compiled and processed yet

Very interesting.
Can't wait to hear about it when Eric speaks at out meeting.

Im not. But am surprised to see ReefCrystals up there seeing how there made from the same place. I'd like to know the rest of the order.

I hope everyone took note here that reads this; that the rep from IO himself is bewildered as to why you yourself would use IO salt in your reeftanks.

Difficult to know without seeing the study, but something like IO could be made to be just fine with the addition of Mg or whatever else it's lacking. I think this is what Anthony Calfo does with the IO he uses for his reef tanks.

I have been using RC for over a year now and had just bought my first bag of IO because from what I understood is that the main difference between IO and RC was the Ca levels......and some other trace elements.....so if one is already sumplemtaly dosing as I am.......getting the extra from the RC doesn't really matter.......I am under the assumption that it is better because of this and will have better results because of which, but I need to review the test again and find out if they are dosing......

Basicly I would just want a breakdown of the salts and their levels of that in the end.

As far as the difference between IO and RC, I always assumed the IO was the base model and RC had a little bit extra added on top of that, but the base mixture of RC is just plain IO......

I have been waiting for this one for a while and am very interested in the findings and why they think that.....
