Salt to water ratio help please!

Hi All,

I've just bought my Tropic Marine Sea Salt.

What I would like to know is how I mix this up in regards to volume. I have had to get my water in 10 litre containers so how do I make my salt water up. Is it a case of adding some salt to each of my containers and stiring it then taking readings until I hit between 1.020 - 1.023?

Thanks.

**BTW my tank is a 58 litre nano and the salt packet is 60 litre (2 kg). I know I could just chuck the lot in then do a small water change and replace with RO but i was just interested if the is an equation of x amount of salt per litre.

I wish I could give you an exact answer, equations aren't always exact. there should be instructions on how to mix the salt to give you a ball park, then you're going to have to fine tune it to your requirements. I know with the brand of salt I use, it's roughly 1/2 cup of salt per gallon. but every salt mix is going to be a little different.
what brand of salt are you using?

It is important how you mix the salt as well. When you add the salt there needs to be lots of water movement so that the salt doesn't settle when you add it.

Since I see you're using the Metric system, 1 cup would be equal to 250mL. 1 Gallon would be equal to 4 litres. So, you would use approximately 125mL per 4 litres. Remember, this is an approximation, to get you near 1.025. I've found, with Instant Ocean, that's it's almost exact.

Read the label, how intelligent when it doesn't say, thats why i've posted on this forum.
with a remark like that no one is going to be willing to help you. lets try and keep it civil.

If it doesn't have any instructions than you are going to have to experiment with it until you get the desired results.
