Well Iam on my 2nd week useing Red sea coral pro after switching from reef crystals.Here's the numbers i got from a 5gal mix took 2 & a half cups of salt to 5gal of RODI water...

SG.1.025 35ppt

KH-ALK MEG 4.5 DKH 12.6

CA-CAL 430

MG-MAG 1440

Tests where done useing the Red sea Reef foundation pro multi test kit witch I love comes in a nice kit easy to use and you can buy refills when you run out .. Mixes up clear in about 2hrs and no brown stuff in the bucket and it took 3cups of RC salt to make 5gal.So far Iam liking this salt...
 
Started with RC then IO and now using Red Sea Pro. I find, I still have to dose no matter what salt I use. And, the Red Sea stuff does leave behind a lot residue which covers the heater and power head that I use to mix, but the water itself is clear.

Personally, I'm looking for a salt that will mix up at the alk I keep my tank at. I dose so I don't want a water change to raise my alk as it will throw off my automated dosing.

Exact reason why I made the switch from Reef Crystals to IO...wasn't comfortable with the Alk spike each water change. Easier for me to dose to correct levels to maintain stability. I am carbon dosing too and managing Alk level below 9...tough to do with RC Alk coming in at 14 DKH!
 
I just started using the ESV multi part salt system. It has a Sodium Chloride bag, a Mag Sulfate Bag (Epsom Salt really), and two liquid "other" parts. Mixes nice, no residue. I usually blend two salts, so for my first W/C using ESV, I blended it with Red Sea Coral Pro

I usually blend two salts to avoid any issues associated w/ a given salt.

I tried multiple brands back in the day when I owned a fish store. I preferred Reef Crystals for the reef tanks (Instant Ocean for the fish only tanks). It seemed to have the least amount of leftover residue when mixing and the additives made the corals happy (visibly better when compared to Instant Ocean). I tried Red Sea, Kent, Instant Ocean, Tropic Marin, and Coralife. For the price and the results, I stuck with Reef Crystals.
 
Ive tried a whole bunch of salts and I stuck with marine environment salt from Aquacraft. I never had any trouble... It even dissolves very well. I can say almost instantly and it doesn't leave any residue whatsoever. Alk is always spot on 2.5meq/L and calcium at around 410ppm. Only once did i find my calcium in my wc at 450ppm.
 
anyone have a recent link/article on the various salts and what they are testing at in terms of Alk,Ca,Mg, etc..???

BTW, i'm on Royal Nature for the same reasons as above.. it very closely matches where I run my tank.

Apparently it does not exist... or if it does it's hiding from me... ;)

I do not like super-saturating the system with stuff... I can dose (baling/2part/etc) up easily, but i do not like the spikes caused by adding 490Ca/11dKh or similar to my system... it's rather annoying actually...

that is the point I have been trying to make for a long time ... so wait for many others to disagree.

look into KZ's best Reefer's salt. I Get EXACTLY 7 dKH, 410 CA++ and about 1280-1300 PPM of MG++ on it, no preservatives ... it also contains Natural levels of HG, Pb, Fe, Mn, Zn, and a bit higher strontinum than others. Ihave been getting GREAT results ... but the cost is much more.
