i had an emergency when i first moved and had to buy salt late in the evening, and wasnt familar with any LFS's. ended up spending almost 67$ for 160g bucket of IO at petco!!!!!!! have been to one LFS since and it was over 55$ for the same bucket. does a bucket cost that much around here or am i looking in the wrong places?

Go to petsmart.com and print out the page showing the bucket of IO salt you want with the price. Take that to a PetsMart and give it to them when you check out, asking them to match the online price. This is hit or miss; some PetsMarts will do it, no questions asked, and others say they are required to add the shipping cost (but even then you'll still save a couple bucks).

Definitely looking in the wrong places for sure. It should be about $32-35. Call a few of the stores on the local fish store thread to compare prices and brands.

yup, I had two 160g buckets of Reef Crystals sent to me from the good Drs. and it was a total of $82 for the two of them shipped to my door.

I use Drs unless someone is having a crazy sale. I purchased some Coralife from TWP a few weeks back for $29-before that GWA had a good deal on Red Sea so I bought there. I try and keep a spare bucket around. MS usually has good deals on salt as well as GWA. good luck

I always buy coralife and I don't think I've paid over $35 for 150 gallon buckets. Like Phil said, TWP had it for super cheap. Just keep an eye out and sign up for their weekly e-mail's that state their sales.
