Saltwater In Oracle

ZOAKEEPER

Zoa Trainer
I had the chance this am to look through the windows at the new Saltwater store opening up in Oracle. Although there not open yet everything appears to be set up. The tanks were all very well stocked with frags and colonies of great looking stuff. The fish were looking great and peering back at me like"come in and buy me". An awesome cube is set up right inside the door. It was also full of great looking corals. This will definatly be somewhere you will all want to travel to. And as soon as I find out an opening date, whether soft or hard I'll post and let you know. If everything I saw is for sale and not in one of those "this tank not for sale" tanks you will want to make the trip. I know i'm looking forward to it. :)

Aquatic Odyssey Grand Opening is this Saturday. If you are into exotic corals, clams, frags, and sps then this is the shop to visit. It is worth the drive! This store is open to the public but most business is done via Internet sales.

Frag prices are from $5 to about $30-$40 for exotics. You will find similar frags for twice the price at other online vendors. You will not find a better selection of sps corals in Southern Arizona!

I picked up five frags: Rose hairy Millepora, a true hot pink birds nest, orange polyp digitata, Ultra Blue-tip Acropora millepora and an LE Ponape Bird's Nest all for $60.

Oh I already plan to be there at opening time (although I'll have to leave the house at like 0500 to make that happen seeing as how Vince is in BFE[J/K, it won't take that long]). Gotta get me a pair o' clams and some Idaho Grape, and maybe a Ric and who knows what else. I'm really looking forward to it.

maybe if it wasnt in BFE i would go there, mapquest said it would take 52 mins to get there from the u of a. i could go to phx for that drive lol. i didnt know fishes live out that far

I think I am going to go as well, just to check it out. I have something weird going on with my tank and neither I or Scott seem to be able to figure it out. I am probably going to take some water to Vince to have him double check it as I am at a complete loss. My tests show that my calcium is over 500 and my alkalinity only about 10.0 or so and stays consistent at that level. I am not dosing two part only using the calcium reactor. If you have any suggestions let me know as I have no clue what is going on. I have also lost a colony of 100 radioactive dragon eyes that were there for over a year and now are down to 10. The rest of my zoos remain fine, so who knows.

SO?? Any Reviews?? I was not able to make it out there today, but may go this weekend still. That is unless the place has already been raped and pillaged of anything worth buying. LOL

It was worth the drive. Vince had some nice stuff in there but I bought it. I may have left some scraps in my wake for you though. He does have some nice pieces up there.

Anyone know if Vince posts on here and if so, what his screen name is? I made the trip up with my family and we each picked out a couple new pieces for our new Nano Cube. The shop was stocked really well and all the coral and fish looked really colorful and healthy with a very good selection. We brought back 5 new corals and I can't exactly identify three of them and two of those three are not opening like they were in the shop. I need to ask him if he wrote down what I purchased and if maybe they need more or less light, flow, etc. Any info would be appreciated. Make the trip, it will be worth it!

I has been banned from RC, but he has his own forum and such, you can also call him at his coffee shop which may be the best way to get a hold of him.

Thanks for the information.....

Pics of coral in question....all closed up, hard to tell anything I'm sure. The purplish one opens kind of like a zoanthid and is bright green. The other one has like long tubes and has goldish feathery things on the ends like a xenia.

Here are some pics of the other cool corals I got while I was there. It was really cool becuase they had the original piece that the frag came from so they could show me what it would look like when it got mature. That was really helpful for a newbie like me.

The purple one has been identified as Green Star Polyps, thanks phnom5. The others is starting to poke the tubes out and take better shape. I'll post a better pic if possible.
