Saltwater Molly and Ich?

I was being nosy and overheard a crazy conversation at my local Petco (I was buying stuff for my dog lol) but of course I wandered into the fish department. Anyway, one of the employees was telling a customer that has his tank fallow due to Ich, to use a Saltwater acclimated Molly as a sort of test dummy. He was saying to put it in the tank to see if the Ich was completely eradicated. If the the Molly did get Ich then he can just put it back in freshwater again to prevent the fish from dying. Do people actually do this??? I don't know it sounded cruel to me.

I had an ich outbreak and used "feeder" mollies, however they were all eaten by eels and wrasse's anyhow.

I understand the premise since Molly's can switch back and forth in Salinity and the Ich would die in freshwater, but just wondering if this was a common practice.

Off subject but there's nothing like a husky playing in snow

Amazing Animals. They say it's one of the closest dog descendants of the Wolf, which makes them even more majestic. One day I'm going to buy 50 acres and have a pack of them running around my backyard.
