saltwaterfish.com question

I am preparing to place an order from this vendor and was curious what everyone's specific experiences have been with happy and healthy fish. Specifically, they indicate that they use a "quarantine" system to ensure all fish are healthy.

So my question is, for those that do not use a quarantine system prior to putting fish in your display, how have your fish faired the shipping stress?

For those that do use a quarantine system, has your experience with receiving fish from this store improved fish survival?

Has anyone ordered Tangs from them? Obviously Tangs are Ick magnets, but did you find that they still succumb to Ick, or do they appear more robust and healthy?

Thanks all.

everything i've ordered from there has lived good place to order from the only thing i do is turn lights down after acclimating them cause shipping in a dark box them putting them into bright light would stress them i imagine.

Short version: I did buy stuff from there and I did get ick from them.

Long version: My fish were all in low salinity QT with formalin dips because of a case of Brooklynella and ick. My display tanks had no fish for ~2 months. I put all my fish back in tanks. I ordered from saltwaterfish.com, i put their fish into QT for 2 weeks, i did NOT dip them or lower the salinity. They looked fine. I put them into my display tanks, the new fish and my old fish fought a little over territory and they got a mild case of ick. gave them medicine and fed them dry food with garlic in it and they got better.

Moral of the story: QT and do a hyposalinity treatment if you know your tank is free of ick.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I am very happy with them and plan on using them again when I stock my next tank (after tax time and the wedding).

I had one fish die (a heninocus), I followed the return procedures and they sent me the replacement code for thier ordering system, but I haven't replaced it yet.

They also sent me a female trigger when I ordered (and paid for) a male trigger - but i haven't followed up with them about that.

Mike
