SaltyJo's Clown Harem

Day 2

Day 2

Tank is looking amazing. Super clear and temp is down to 79 degrees. Everything is running smoothly. I will double check salinity tonight to see where its at.

Day 4
Tank is very clear all components are working as planned. Temperature is perfect right at 79 degrees. Salinity is 1.23. The baby tank I have always ran at a bit lower salinity every since hatch night over a year ago and have had great sucess. I am contemplating upping this slighly and upping the salinity in their tank because of wanting to introduce the anemone I have to their tank. Does anyone run thier tank with anenome at a slighly lower salinity?

I run my tank at 1.23 on a permanent basis. I have 11 BTA's, 1 Mini Mini and a large Actinidus sp.anemone all living happily in this.

Wow 11 BTAs!!! They are so beautiful. I have 2 in my 150 gallon reef tank. It was 1 when I put it in there but split into two. My perculas both love their own anemone separately. I would love to see them in a tank that had 11 in it! They would be like little bees going from one to another.
Anyway thanks for the reply! Perhaps I will keep the salinity lower. ;)

Do you mess Specific Gravity of 1.023 (salinity of about 30 to 31 part per thousand) or salinity of 23 part per thousand?
1.23 salinity is wrong and we (or I ) are not sure what you mean

There are two type of units that indicated how much salt in the water. Normal amout of salt in our reef tank at about 80 degree is Specific gravity of about 1.026 or Salinity of about 35 ppt

Yes Minh,
1.023! I started the error and then continued it. I usually keep my reef tank at 1.025 and I meant I keep my baby tank around 1.023.
Thanks for the clarification. What do you keep your tank at?

Tested by mistake.

I had a refractometer that had slowly drifted, my salinity was at 1.030 before I caught on. All the Nems did fine with it as it was brought up slowly. The fish seemed to tolerate it also for a few weeks. Anyway, I have a feeling they can adapt to a wider range as long as it doesn't fluctuate quickly.

Hi Jo!

Got your message - tank looks awesome! Looks like you cleaned the tank and rock up well. I'm excited to see the little guys in there. Please let me know if I can ever be of any further help.

Not much new to report. Over the weekend I have had a little algae bloom and have seen signs of life. I have seen quite a few pods on the live rock. I am going to add a big chunk of caulpra to the sump sometime this week.

Calupra added to the sump and the tank is doing well. Added some very small hermit crabs, and snails today.

Thanks Ed, I will for sure move them over this weekend! I am still needing to finish the overflow gate before they move over. If I get that done this week I will post pictures.

Finally move the clowns on Easter!
