Hello guys! I'm moving in a couple of weeks to a bigger apartment and I'm gonna take that opportunity to do a little upgrade for my tank as well. I love the look of "cubish" tanks so my thoughts have always been to do a larger cube. This will be a 2.0 version of my current setup. I wanted to keep the water volume near 50 gallons to have a more stable system than before. This will be a slow build cause I need to first settle in my new home but will take some time to design and plan everything well. So these are the plans:
  • Tank:
    24" x 24" x 18"
3/8" Thick glass with polished and beveled corners
    or
    1/2" Cast acrylic. Still unsure
  • Stand:
Wooden structure covered with 1/2" laminated plywood. Access from 3 sides
  • Sump:
    23" x 19" x 14" Glass sump with baffles
  • Skimmer:
Reef Octopus XP1000 SSS (Already have)
  • Return Pump:
    Water Blaster 3000
  • Wave maker:
    Vortech MP10 (Already have)
  • Chiller:
    Still not sure
  • Lighting:
    36 LEDs lamp

The whole thing

I wonder how this looks as the LED layout?

This time I'm going all in with Neutral Whites. The light blue is "Cool Blue" or regular CREE Blue, the darker is Royal Blue and obviously the Violets TV 420nm.

is it possible to passively cool these LEDs in single heatsink strips? Each heatsink will have 6 LEDs ~1.25" x 12" long
