Sand Algae control, Seahorse tank?

My wife's Seahorse tank is cycling well right now, but controlling the algae on the sand bed is an issue. We are running low current and the rocks at the bottom are constantly growing new algae on them. It's a 24g open top cube with a HOB filter for a fuge and a skimmer box filter to keep the top water film under control. Temp is running at 76 and we put 8 snail's in there.

What good creatures can I put in there to keep the algae under control? It's not slim algae, just normal. The rocks are being taken care of by the snails, but they don't seem to care much for cleaning the sand/rock bottom.

Thanks in advance.

If you tank is cycling, it's going to go thru a diatom bloom at the very least, if not a couple of other types of algae as well.

Since you're saying that the stuff is on your substrate, I suspect it's brown/rusty-looking, which is the obligatory diatom bloom. This will subside all on its own in about 2 weeks or so. The more you mess with it, the longer the bloom will last.

BTW, "low flow" for SH setups is kinda old info. SH can actually handle a fair amount of flow as long as it's done creatively (e.g., you don't want the SH plastered against the tank, and they need a few "rest spots" where the flow is lower).

Thanks for the info. I was planning another month of cycling anyways. The wides in charge of this sh tank. I'll pass the info to her to read more on the newer technics.

Cheers

not to hi-jack but all th einfo i have read said low flow so i set my 30g tank up with a hob filter and hob skimmer very little movement other then surface movement. are you thinking i would need a small power head if so how small and is it truly need as it would most likely add more heat to the tank . this is my 1st sh tank so any help is appreciated.
