sand question

About a year and half ago I tore down my tank due to moving. My plan was to set up the tank up once I got to my new place, ( only moved about 30 mins down the road) but due to losing all of my fish during the move I have let the tank sit empty. All of the sand was placed in a 5 gal bucket and placed in the storage room.I would like to reuse the sand due to my budget right now. My question is how many times should I rinse the sand? So far I have rinsed the sand about three times and plan on doing it about two more times before placing it back in the tank. Should I also use anything to rinse the sand with?

Assuming your stirring up the sand as you rinse it, once the water starts overflowing the bucket clear you should be good to go. GL.

Yes I am Stirring the sand while I am washing, once finished I let the sand air dry in the bucket while ever so often stirring the sand around
