sand sifting goby with a clam?

Would getting sand on the mantle of the clam irritate it, or are they adapted to this?

Can they be kept together?

I have search on here and on Google for an answer, no luck...

I have a diamond goby with a few clams on the sand bed. The larger clams 4"+ had no problems, but l had to move the smaller ones later.

My longsuffering crocea is in a tank where snails crawl on its shell, conchs feel it over, fish dart past it [slams shut], and snails land on it [it launches them out with considerable loft] and gobies swim over it before expelling their mouthful of sand [it puffs it out and they leave.] It's healthy and thriving, adding scutes.
