not new to the hobby but i transferred our 240 into our wall and its about 1/4 full of ro/di water, can i add the new sand i bought to the fresh water or will it destroy the sand i paid for? didnt want to add salt till sump was up and going. thank you

The sand won't be damaged, but if it's the kind that's innoculated with beneficial bacteria, the bacteria might not like being in freshwater.

I have done that myself, just mix some salt and never had a problem, I'm sure there was some die off but it was minimal because I didn't notice any issues at all.
