sand

I found Pavestone pulverized Limestone yesterday.
At home Depot on Memorial and Penn. They have 2 large pallets it's located in outside garden area.
How deep should my sand bed be I'm setting up a 100 gallon tank?

Awesome Russ (and xpawn). Thanks for letting me know.

Xpawn, it's really up to you. There are so many methodologies for nitrate reduction using sand, it's hard to pick just one. From Deep Sand Beds to Remote Deep Sand Beds, the choice is yours.

So what is the footprint on your tank?

I'm in the process of upgrading my current setup.
Current setup.
The 100gal setup.
50 lbs live rock
20 lbs live sand
100gal glass undrilled tank
Fluval 404 canister
emperor 400 HOB filter
Red sea prizm skimmer HOB
A-565 AquaClear Power Head
1 24inc corallife compact lights
2x40watt fluorescent lights

Live stock
1 Watchman Golby
1 Royal Grama
1 Yellow wrasse
1 black/white striped damsel
1 orange tail damsel (free to anyone who wants)
1 Coral banded shrimp

Corals:
Xenia Frag small (xenia sp.)
Starburst Polyp Frag small(Pachyclavularia sp.)
Green Mushroom Frag small (Rhodactis sp.)

First i'll be adding a sump and refug.
The sump will be a rubbermaid tub 30 gal and the refug will be an 40 gallon glass tank. I've been reading alot and looking at photos of 100gal setups.
I'm sure a closed loop setup is best. When looking at diagrams and photos of other setups. I notice pvc connects on inside of tank. I assume thats to control water current and circulation. and would a spraybar be recommended?
Any information or ideas to get me started are welcome.

If you plan to keep corals, you will need to do an upgrade on your lights. What you have listed will be fine for fish only, but almost nothing in corals can live in that light. You should look into T-5 or metal halide lighting so you can keep whatever you want in the future. I don't know much about the T-5 lights for the wattage you would need over a 100 gallon, but with metal halide a 2 x 250 watt setup would be real nice.

Yes, I plan on upgrading to 2x250 watt MH.
I'm on a budget so I'll get them one at a time.
That project will come after i've installed the sump and refug.
