I have a quick quesion for you !!

The dimension of my next project will be 96" X 40" X 30" = 500 G
after tons of research I am still confused

BALLAST: PFO Pulse start 400 Watts
BULB : XM 10.000 K
REFLECTOR: LUMERAC III

I will be having 3 x 400 over the tank with some VHO URI Bulbs suplement....i will have all types of corals and clams!

* At 6 inches with no glass top over the reflectors ihow much PAR could i get with these combination???
* Would you recomend me this or something else SANJAY ??

Thanks

Why pulse start ballasts ?

I would go with 4 lumenarcs or 3 if you aquascape accordingly. You would want them about a ft or so off the water since you want to spread over 40" front to back.

I personally don't use any flourescent lighting, but if I had to then I would consider t-5s.

QUESTION

QUESTION

Thanks so much SANJAY JOSHY for taking the time !!!

so basicly what kind of brand Ballast would you recomend me ?

would you recomend me the M58 PFO 400 W Magnetic instead of the M139 Pulse Start ??

I have seen that your articles and i can see that
4 XM 10K in combinations with 4 Lumenarc III Reflectors will give me more PAR than anything else !!

would you recomend me something else at all ??

Thanks SANJAY :bum:

you may want to have a look at his website and plug in different bulb and ballast combos to see what gives you the most par.

Just to give you an idea, the Penn State is pretty much the same dimensions the one you are trying to set up.

We are using 4X400W combination of XM10K and EVC10K as the only light on that aquarium. These are with the Lumen arc III reflectors, and are about 15" off the water surface. Plenty of light to keep anything you might want to keep... in some places it might be too much for some lower light corals,

Go with the standard M58 magnetic ballasts, although I am using the ICECAP electronc ballasts for my personal tank right now (its in the works not set up yet.). I have to experiment with the electronic ballasts. :)

Good luck with your tank.
