Sarcophyton - long or short polyps

I got a small white Sarcophyton leather that has half inch long polyps. When it grows and matures will the polyps grow to 1"+ ?

I've been told that this is true, but am just looking for feedback to support and backup this idea. At the LFS there was a large Sarco with long polyps; I was told mine would look like that at an adult age. Are there some Sarcos that mature and only grow half inch polyps? I've read online that Sarcophytons are nicknamed "Long Polyp Leathers"

Thanks

no for the most part they will never get over an inch. my sarco was over 16" in diameter and they got about one inch or so. my clowns always hosted in it.

In my experience, it has depended on the environment and possibly a sub-species type. I have several small stalks that resulted from frags of a large (16" diameter) parent. The parent was so tall that it nearly reached the surface of the water, and the polyps were really short. All of the smaller stalks that I have in my display now (from that parent) have polyps more than 1" in length. I have also seen several specimen in LFS that had much shorter polyps at a similar size to mine.
