I have the opportunity to get a small frag of a very nice green leather from ORA fairly cheap and have always wanted one but the whole thing about them being poisenous to sps corals and such has detered me.

I have a mixed reef, mostly sps, with lps and lots of ricordia. Its a 125 nd I have an H&S A150 skimmer which is a beast and rated for 250 gl.

Does anyone have any experience with these corals in the same tank??

I have a large yellow leather in my 34 gallon with a lot of sps and it has never been a problem for me. The leather actually rubs on two of my acros all the time and it never bothers either one. I always hear they are not good together though. I wonder if it is when the leather gets really irritated and starts slimimg up that it becomes a problem? Interested in the answers as well.

I have a 8-10" wide toadstool leather wth my sps and have no issues. I do keep the leather on the far left, and sps in the middle and on the right though.

It is my experience that SPS and Leathers can go exist fine, BUT it is also my opinion that the presence of Leathers in an SPS reef cause SPS to be more brown and less colorful, but I have zero scientific proof just personal experience.

Thats interesting. How long have you guys had them coexist together?

Anyone else experience any color loss with the sps or anything detrimental with other corals?

From what I have seen just don't frag the leather then stick it back in the tank with SPS. The goooooooooooop it realeases will wipe out sps.

I have two 6-8" toadstools on my 150 along with sps for a couple years. No worries at all for me. Could my colors be better? Sure.

I have had the leather for about four years the sps maybe two it is by far the biggest thing in my tank colors seem fine. It would be gone but my wife picked it out so it stays for now......
