Sargassum Frogfish

Does anyone have some tips on feeding this type of frogfish. He has been fed Juvinile convicts. There must be a way to get hime to eat quality food without spending $15 per feeding.

Thanks in advance

I started my frogfish on live mysid shrimp. Caught the shrimp at the coast in cold water. When I added them to the frogfish tank, the temperature changed shocked them. I used an acrylic rod to move the shrimp around in the water column. The frogfish quickly keyed in on the rod. Now, it eats what ever is on the end of the rod. This should work with ghost shrimp too.

Shouldn't be too hard to train a sargassum fish to frozen. they have voracious appetites, even for a frogfish. I feed my angler frozen on a bamboo skewer. he has learned to "lip" it off without touching the point. he'll take about anything from the skewer - shrimp, scallops, squid, Ocean Nutrition gel cube strips, killed ghost shrimp or guppies, etc.

Thanks for your help. I want him to have a healthy diet. I am glad he does not like stone crabs. He has 3 for tank mates that came in on live rock. I did get him to eat a shrimp from a long pair of forceps I will try to continue to feed him a variety of live an frozen foods.

Thanks again

i feed mine frozen silvcersides. I just slice it open with a razer, stuff it with a flake, pellet, algae, or cyclopeez. drop it in, and he does his thing.
I couldn't get mine to eat anything but ghost shrimp, untill no lfs within 45 minutes had them for about 3 weeks. (at this point, i fed him goldfish, which im told is a big no-no)
After the 3rd week of no ghost shrimp, I dicovered my anglers taste for silversides, and have been giving him them ever since.
Oh yeah, a large box of silversides cost $10 and last maybe 3 months feeding about 3 every other day.

Also, i feel as though i've read that ghost shrimp are not the best food nutrition wise, unless you gut load them with cyclopeez.
