Saving Haddoni Anemone

A buddy of mine blew a seam on his tank. He has his Haddoni in the sump. He needs a home for it before it dies. It was healthy and he had it for a while.

The lfs will give him 20 bucks store credit for it.

He would rather I have it. My tank is just finishing up its initial cycle.

Would the Haddoni be alright? I have a lot of experience in the hobby from 5 gallon reefs up to 120 reefs. I've had reef tanks for 15 years now so experience isn't an issue. This will be my first Haddoni.

I have a 7 gallon reef that's a year old that I transfered 2 months worth of filter floss into the big tank to assist with the cycle at the final nitrate stage.

I will test my water tomorrow before taking the anemone to ensure the params are good.

What's best for the anemone?

Lots of the difficulty is importing them and acclimating them to captivity. If you want one, I'd definitely take it, as long as you have the right tank. You need bright lights, sand and enough space. They eat fish, so you are better building a tank around one than planning on getting one later.

I built my tank more for a mag with its own Rock Island. I was going to do a mag because it will stay on its island and less likely to eat all my fish.

A Haddoni need a san bed and lower light and lower flow.
Good luck with him. Hope the stability of the tank is enough to keep him. Best of luck.

My worry is the stability. I have a helios led fixture on the tank now but I think I am switching back to halide to grow frags into colonies then make the switch to colonies. I worry about him eating other fish that will be in the tank in the future.
