SC Aquariums Owners Thread

Oh by the way, when I set up this tank on day one, the return bulkhead leaked too!! I had to glue it on to stop it from leaking. I also had to turn it to certain direction or it would leak too! Luckily I changed all my bulkheads and converted them to the Herbie system over the new years.

I forgot to add something. Something I just learned this week.

I woke up one day to see my acros and milli coral were dying, turning white, and lost of polyps. I couldn't figure out why because everything else was doing well. It was a sign of either STN or RTN.

After much research, I saw the connection between running biopellets and STN. It turned out that my biopellet reactor was clogged for a long time due to too many sponges and white slugs. I took it out and clean it up a couple weeks ago. I turned it way up too high too fast. It completely stripped of nutrients off the water. I turned it off right away and only after a day, polyps were opening again and after 3 days, those corals were almost back to their normal health.

I guess the lesson I learned was that a high bio load and over feeding can have a positive effect on the coral! Who knew?

Things that I did that weren't included in the PNP setup was put a ball valve on the return + 2 hose clamps for it, and pvc glued the elbow to the drain.

Hey everyone I upgraded from 24g AIO to 45g Cube. Pretty cool, hope this video helps. I know I had a lot of questions as far as the packing was concerned.

Finally finished my TANK! I picked up my 50g cube used from a guy that was getting out of the hoby back in April. I was kind of reluctant to buy a use tank but it was a sweet deal that I couldn't pass up. I was pretty happy with the SCA cube but me being me I had to make it my own.....

Old tank

New Sump
-I rebuild the baffles and added some white vinyl.

Apex mounting board

Tank 2.0
- I plumbed my tank with the herbie overflow method useing 1" pvp(F'ing love it! It's super quite.) So with great caution drill the 1/2" hole to 1". Lined the inside of the cabnet with white vinyl and added some nice LEDs I got off amazon to light the cabnet.

Sorry for the HUGE pics... don't know how to make them smaller.

Nice tank, I love your equipment choices. The sump looks great cubes are PITA due to the sumps you have yours laid out very nicely.

Joining the club just picked up the 150.

I noticed some of you have Eurobracing as well mine is inlayed by aboug 3/8" but other are not. Anyone else have this?

All of their 60" tanks have recessed and overlapping eurobracing, Steve told me that it was required for strength. Recessed is better because it helps keep spashes off outside of the tank.

Guys are they shipping the foam pad that goes between tank is supposed sit on separatly or is it the 1" think pad the tank ships on?

I upgraded to a neoprene pad over the foam pad mainly because I didn't like the white trim look between the tank and the stand. But also because my pad got little damage from moving the tank to my house.

I check with Steve and he recommended I would be fine with the 1/8" for my 50g cube.

I got my pad off amazon, it was a little pricey but over I'm really happy with with. The 54" was enough for my tank and sump.

I found those guys at SCA awesome to deal w/, great customer service.
Even at my deal price ($500 for a 120 eurobrace starfire out the door tax included) they held that tank for a week till I could get there, loaded it in my truck for me, gave me a smokin deal on a rimless sump, GAVE me a LED fuge light, gave me the right bulk fittings and locklines.
Really cool guys over there.

Wow wish I would have ordered with SCA instead of Crystal Dynamic Aquarium. Not for the price but the build quality and customer service!

Looking at the pictures above on this page make the edges on my custom take look like they cut the edges by hand followed by hand sanding and buffing. Maybe I'm being to critical as I am sure the SCA's are mass production aquariums..

Settings, I don't know if SCA would be considered a mass production tanks, not when compared to what marineland or aqueon, but it appears practice does make perfect.
