SC Aquariums Owners Thread

That's who I plan to use for a screen cover. I don't want a canopy. I have a pacific sun Diuna T5 8 bulb fixture that will be hanging from the ceiling. I've seen some pictures of tanks with flush eurobracing all around with these lids on and they look fine to me.

Looks like a euro braced tank for me. The price is right $1295 shipped. If I went rimless I'd have to go with thicker glass which would increase the cost. Just need to layout the stand so they know how I want it to look.

I should have thought this out more carefully and just went with what I wanted in the first place. An SCA tank. I would have already had the equipment by now. Sigh... I should be able to get this up and running by Christmas.:thumbsup::bounce3::bounce3::bounce3:

Then I would recess the ends so that the screen lays inside the lip of the tank so to not be noticeable

How do you like that light? I have been looking at one for my build. Have you used it yet?

Haven't used it yet. It's been sitting in its box since I bought it last year thinking that I would be set up in January. Plans change and now it's a bigger tank!

I took opened the bos to le a look and it's really a nice light. Well built and sleek. Only one cord coming out of it which is nice. The lights turn off and on in pairs. It's not dimmable. Hoch is ok for me. You usually have to burn the bulbs before you put them in operation, and dimming shorten the lifespan. you replace the bulbs every 6-8 months so maybe it doesn't matter? I don't really have any experience with that.

Yes, 3 1" drain lines will fit. This is exactly how I have mine set up - 3 lines for a bean animal inside the overflow bow with the return line coming over the back of the tank.

Do you mind posting pictures of your plumbing? Particularly the center column and the return? I'm setting up the same system right now. Did you have any issues going with bean? Anything you'd do differently?

Finally got the tank on the stand. Hoping to start plumbing soon.

Well I think Steve mis quoted me (too low) with my 66x30x22 eurobrace drilled for ghost overflow and a stand. He did, however, back up how quote when I forwarded him the original e mail. They stand behind things. That's a really good sign!

Thats all you can ask of a manufacturer and reason so many here are happy customers

Steve went above and beyond for me when I bought. He knew I needed some kessils and actually called me from reefapalooza that he could get me some that were used 2 days at the show for significant savings. Awesome dude

I see everyone using yoga mats under their tanks here. Has anyone used the black 1/8" styrofoam that comes with the tank? Is it safe to use?

Yes, I'm using it and it's perfectly fine to use. Just make sure the tank sits level.

Custom SC150

Hey folks,

I need some help. I have a custom 150g 60x24x24 and I'm starting to build some rock structures and was wondering what's the tallest they should be if I'm planning to put some sps corals towards the top of the structures. Here is some ideas I'm working with but not finished as yet. In the picture the tallest structure is 16".

I like to see the tallest at about 1/2 the height of the tank. You're a little beyond that but ok still I think. The triangular shape of the rock scape looks good.

Rather than reading all 236 pages I'll ask quickly. For those of you who have purchased the SCA stand along with your tanks, how do you feel about them? Specifically the oak stand upgrade. Not as much info on stand quality. How do you like the sturdiness, look, and finish. Would love some details. Wanting the 150 and don't have the time or tools to build a stand.

They have changed stand builders recently once again so you would need to touch base with them on builds. The last vendor they had was horrible. I luckily got my stand when they were still on their original builder who has since retired and closed his shop.

For my stand it is awesome and WELL WORTH the money but I can not speak to current builder

Got word from the trucking company that my custom 150 is being delivered tomorrow. Kind of a surprise. Wasn't expecting it for another month based on the estimated build and ship times. Can't wait to see how it turned out!

Got to get my butt in gear and finish up my forklift attachment for my loader so I can get it up to the house from the street.

Word on the street is their new batch of stands from their new vendor will be in house on the 10th and they'll be updating their site pica
