scarlet hermit crab behavior?

For the past few days, my scarlet hermit crab has been climbing up and down the rock work up to my baseball sized colony of birds nest. He stays there for a good couple of hours and then comes back down.

What would be the reason for this? Does he want to be king of the castle or is he just dumb? There isnt any food up there. I actually tried to yank him off the coral and he doesnt want to budge. At one point I thought he was stuck but he comes and goes as he pleases.

Normal. Mine seem to sleep a good part of the day away and become moer active in the evening hours. Apparently yours has found a good place to hang out.
