One of the biggest things i think is what type of clam. Crocea and Maximas are rock boring and need INTENSE lighting while deresa and squamosa do not need intense lighting and live in the sand. also, an adolescent clam must be fed phytoplankton. They start to rely almost completely on the light at around 3".
