Schooling fish for a 40 breeder

I'm building a 40B and would like a couple schooling fish. I read that the blue-green chromis get aggressive after a while. What else is there? Anthias?

Anthias won't work well in a rather small tank, and they will also be aggressive among each other, especially in close quarters.

You may want to have a look at some of the cardinals (not banggai though) as they tend to stay in groups, preferably between coral branches or gorgonias.

You can try chromis. I've tried a few times and always end up with one. They will kill the weaker ones until only the strongest makes it. It is what it is.

I would suggest against Pajama cardinals too. I picked up two and ended up with one. Sometimes you can get a pair. I've heard of some of the smaller varieties in groups though.

Ailiops mesostigma, trimma gobies, zebra dartfish, blue gudgeon dartfish, and blue eye cardinals, are all social fish that "group" together while not technically schooling, parvulus cardinals will school, but don't ship well and need frequent small feedings.
