Schooling Fish

Can anybody recommend a good schooling/shoaling fish?

I have a 120g tank, that is 4x2x2.

I think cardinals are going to be your best bet. Most of the Apogon cardinals would be fine.

I would say anthias, but in a 120 it is possible they will not shoal and slowly pick each other off.

I'm hesitant with buying more then one Chromis. Its battle royal with those guys. Any other suggestions?

I guess peoples mileage varies with this. I have had 8 blue green chromis in my 120 for over a year without any losses.

I'm partial to blue-eyed (aka threadfin) cardinals: Apogon leptacanthus (aka Zoramia leptacanthus). I have a small shoal of seven in my 200 gallon. They stick closely together. I also like how they are out a lot at night when the moonlights are on.

I've had 9 blue green chromis in my 120 for a year now. Lots of rock work so they can hide when needed, and not many other fish in the tank.

Just wait until they are 3" long apiece and in spawning condition.

mine spawn about once a month. probably still range between 1.5 and 2.5 inches though.
