Schooling fish?

reef boy

HEY EVERYBODY

i have a 75 gallon reef tank that im just starting to put fish in. I have a kole tang, and a red firefish. I would love to have a school of fish that are colorful and active. I was thinking of lyretail anthias or blue reef chromis. (not the blue green ones!) does any one have any other ideas? :uhoh3:

thanks ,
Andrew

The only thing with antheis is for every 4 females you must have one male in my experience with them any less and they will kill each other or just die. Probably one of the best schoolers are just the green cromis there pretty and shine in anyones tank but keep a decent sized school.

^---Chromis (Green Chromis) kill each other more or just as much. Not all Anthias kill each other, most known one would be Bartlett. I haven't heard of other types killing each other.

I'd get 3 Maldive Lyretail Anthias if I was OP but im a Anthias lover. I have 3 Bartlett, 1 Maldive Lyretail and one other unknown Anthias in my 120gal right now. 2 Tierra, 2 Maldive Lyretail and a Sunburst in QT waiting to go to DT.:fish2:

For big school of fish, i'd go with Cardinals too.

+1 to the Green Chromis. I had 12, now I'm down to 1. :(

Loved Anthias, but I never took the time to acclimate them to pellets, so I always had to feed frozen (too time consuming).

Would love to try cardinal fish, but I don't want to muck up my chemistry right now, so I'm in a holding pattern for the next year or two.

I have chromis and many different types of anthias they are more of a shoaling fish..... the only true schooling fish I have are blue eyed threadfin cardinal....they are always together and don't fight like chromis.
