Scissortail

Went to LFS to purchase a Firefish and spotted this Scissortail Dartfish. Well it caught my eye and bought it without knowing anything about it. Since its been in QT it hides under PVC tee and won't come out. Did I buy a fish that is going to hide uner a rock and never be seen? Should I have stuck withthe Firefish?

Mine is out for most of the day swimming up and down the water column. Great fish. It will burrow under rock and sand to sleep or seek shelter but a very active social fish. They do better in small groups but I have mine solo

Once it settles in, as long as it's not being bullied it should be out almost all the time.

Make sure your tank is completely covered. They will find the smallest little hole and end up on the floor.

I have a pair of these and they stay hidden in their little burrow most of the time even though they are not picked on. They only come out when it is dinner time.

If I was you, I would stick with a single one. Single ones seem to stay out in the open unlike the pairs and groups seem to kill each other until you have a pair, which is how I ended up with a pair.

Great Fish, out all the time at the top of the water column. Just let it settle in.
