SCMAS April Meeting

I know reefjerk is so nice too, I can't imagine how he came up with that screename :)
Maybe I'll tell the story at the meeting.

Take me off the list. I don't have any idea what the problem is within the club right now, but I think I will avoid it until things clear up.

Questin, I understand your reluctance to get involved in what it going on, but I would think that the meeting this week is probably the best chance of getting all out in the open and cleared up. I hope you'll reconsider.

In no way is this directed at you Reet (love ya ;))

Sorry to say this but I don't see anything getting out in the open at the meeting. If anything it will just be a continuation of the bashing since only one side of the story will be present at the meeting. :(

thats exactly how i feel too....honestly.....since both wont be present....i dont see how both sides can be brought out in the open.....

but just my two cents

No offense taken Eric! First off, I don't see where the bashing comes in at all. There was an incident with Murf (VERY sorry to see you go) and some unnamed person(s). The way I see it, it is for them to straighten out, not the entire forum or SCMAS membership to debate. Whats the point of bashing? Thats one way to continue the dissension among members. Everyone has their own opinion (you all know the saying), but does that make mine right? There are no sides to take. Unless we all agree to disagree, and respect other's opinions (even if we don't agree with them) no one wins, including the club. Anyways, I hope everyone will still turn out for the meeting. We, as a club, need it I think.

Everyone has their own opinion

That's right, but presently no one's opinion is considered before decisions are made. That is the root of the issue. Lies are told and trusts are broken so that those opinion are not heard and not considered.

This is hogwash...I know this is a reference to the nomination thread, and a reference to me. The decision was not a sole decision, heck it wasn't even a proposal I made. To what degree/extent you and Murf were involved in this aspect I have no idea, too much has been bantered about without any verbal discussion. All I know is there have been 200 emails going back and forth and miscommunication has become the product of that (I also know there are countless side emails and PMs that have gone on which have had different discussions, and different agendas). I mean when by laws are writen soley via email, and no attempt (well an attempt was made but that is a different story) to get together to discuss these things thouroughly, well these are typical problems.

BTW, in regards to Murf, I am the unnamed bully...here's the thing though, and Murf and Eric do not seem to realize it. I am not running for board member, so once an election takes place I am out, through with any decision making in this club. Instead of complaining...now is the time for those of you who have had problems with how the club has been run, to stand up, run for an office, and try to influence things the way you would like rather than complaining about it on the forums. This all could have been avoided Eric, had you emailed other members of the current board before posting questions to open it up to a debate. Once that was done a decision had to be made, or there would have been bickering for weeks and where would it have ended or been settled?

Let's see, I could use your line and say "I emailed everyone repeatedly and didn't get a response" but I don't like to make up stories... for that matter I could say I did make contact with 2 other members and this is the way were doing it.

Sound pretty convenient for you to blame that the bi-laws we (Todd, Murph, Robert and I) put together when you didn't contribute a thing to them... All the while you still demand that you deserve respect for "starting" this club, and your "countless hours" working hard at it. Respect comes from those who deserve it not those who continue to try to take credit. Robert is the workhorse from what I've seen and I have tremendous respect for the man. He knows how to keep things civil and keep things going forward. The only thing your hard work has done is keep this club from actually growing. If I were Robert I'd be mad as hell that all my hard work was being ruined by you. Your attitude and arrogance towards everyone who doesn't see eye to eye with you has forced away more members and sponsorships than anything else in this club. I can't begin to count the number of people I've met and when I bring up the club they are not interested simply because of your arrogance and attitude. They would love to be involved in a club, but one that you're not a part of.

You want to know why we've had such a great turn out recently? You haven't too busy with other things to continue to screw up this club! I'm sick to death of all the BS finger pointing when you don't have the spine to consider where the problem actually is. Yes we are finally getting an elected board, one that Paul and I have been fighting so long for, it's a shame that we're so fed up with your influence that we don't even want to be involved. Personally it's actually ruined the hobby for me.

Oh I know, poor Eric, everyone is out to get him... Sorry, too many similar stories, and far too many same stories. Where there is tons of smoke there definately a fire.

Whatever man...you exclude me from the process for what gain?? You don't think I contributed?? That's fine, your welcome to make your own assertions, but please don't misrepresent as you have so often done and are doing now.

What did I do again??? Oh...I put out that a decision had been made that you didn't agree with. Like I said, it wasn't my decision, and because it prevents you from running for 5 offices, you act like I am the one to blame...priceless.

OK GUYS IT'S TIME TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!!
We just joined this club and from what I understand so has alot of other people. Everything seemed to be going just fine before all this election stuff started. I don't know whats behind ALL of this nor do I want to. This club is for the enjoyment and education of reefing and saltwater fish-when you guys started this club you all got together to help each other with the love you all had for reefing and now your at each others throats. You have to relize that this club does NOT belong to 1 person. ( as I have been told before) The steps forward that we have all made in making our tanks run, look, and operate better should be kept in everyones minds. This is the Southern Colo Marine Aquarist Society -NOT my club or your club--I'm a member your all members now we need to shake hands give hugs and continue reefing.
We have made to many good friends in the short time that we have been here and don't want to see anyone leave over things that can be talked out among only the people involved. (In my opinion NOT THE TOTAL CLUB).
I think that the bylaws should have been addressed by the total club once there was a "club" established. After the membership cards were presented to the membership we should have all had a say in the inseption of the
bylaws. Or the bylaws should have been totally compleated before you took on members. Then if there was changes in the bylaws they should have been presented to the membership and voted on by the membership.
If we can't put this all behind us I SEE THE DEMISE OF THIS CLUB. which will be tragic for all of us reefers.
Lets get over this and move on with ALL our members and continue educating each other.
Tracy

I saw this coming a long time ago. Hopefully things will change once the new board members has been selected. I for one is hoping to be elected to be on the board because this drama and bickering has to stop. There is 5 board members and all desicions that needs to be made has to be made by all 5. Not 3. Majority rules doesnt seem to work. We already lost 2 valuable members in this club and it has to stop. Its getting old seeing members leave.
