I have been working on a new design for the website, and we want your feedback. The site is at a temporary URL. To access the newly designed site go to www.thescmas.com. Again this is a temporary url for the site as I work on getting it completely functional. Please check it out, and let us know what you think, and if we need to add any content. I have posted our meeting info, and our Frag Swap info over there and it's pretty close to being ready for prime time.

:bum:

I encourage everyone to go and play there. A few of us have been giving it a work out for the last week and I must say we're having a blast there. It's way faster than RC and no stupid We're Sorry Messages.

Thanks! The site is based of Forum software like RC, with a portal product on top. I am planning on doing most of what you described though. most of the item location and content is out of the box, and I am working on customizing it. :D not bad considering I have only been working on it since Tuesday night, with no prior knowledge of the forum app. talk about a learning curve!

BUMP!! Yah, we will still use both. Get rid of all the stickies and just make this one a sticky.

I don't know if the RC bylaws will allow a cross post or sticky to a different domain like that.

Man, looks like Caleb was banned from there already!!!!!

I think they will alow it as the Rocky Mountain club has a thread to thier site.

Larry is doing a great job, getting new things done on a daily basis. I even have my own smiley there :) thanks Larry.

It's way faster, no mods, no moved on, no being banned (yet) and since we have many different forums (and sponsor forums!) you can communicate with LFS (the ones that want to participate with our club) and they don't have to fear breaking any RC bylaws with commercial type posts.

Caleb, this forum has served us well, and quite frankly without reef central this club would still just be a few guys hanging out with each other once a month.
Eventually this site will not be needed, but it may take a while to "wean" everyone off. It seems like all the clubs on RC have their own site but for some reason still post here, not sure why though..................

Because regardless of what individual clubs do, RC is still the Google God of saltwater. There is a huge amount of knowledge and experience here that we should all be thankful for. Without it, I never would have attempted a salt tank. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for SCMAS as well, but I wouldn't have found you all without RC. :)

I agree. RC as a whole is so much bigger than any one club will ever be. Way more info there than any one club could provide also. We'll just make sure we go to our club when we want to have fun.:D

Google god of saltwater............hmm can be sometimes, I try not to "learn" too much from RC, I think books are the better way to go, but RC is a great form of entertainment and a good way to buy and sell stuff :)

Larry take the site down tonight? I haven't been able to get in, I get error 404, page not found, since about 530PM.
