Scooter Blenny, reef safe?

I had a Molly miller blenny who was shy for about a week until I added a six line wrasse. Then he went around taking pieces out of my button polyps and my lettuce nudibranch. I sent him back to the LFS. Has anyone had experience with Scooter Blennies. I know about their feeding requirements and was wondering if they have any history of nipping at polyps.

no problem, great reef fish...had them several times. Moe colorful would be the mandarin gobies, same body style and also feeding habits.

you should have established live rock for both, they eat live foods for the most part, never seen them eat flake or pellets...sometimes frozen brine, but live rock is best.

I have had one for almost two years now. They're the best, I have never had any trouble with mine. I do think you need a refugium full of pods as well though. I have read that they could eat hundreds in a single day.

Scooters are reef safe. Very friendly with a mind of their own not a care in the world what goes on in the tank. Unless they see another scooter.

Some can be trained to accept frozen. Mine accept bloodworms, mysis, and brine shrimp. I have one that accepts pellets, the other one won't.

you don't if you're willing to feed them properly. I've had one for over two years in a small tank with virtually no pod population. Feed twice daily and turn off the flow for 1/2 hour to an hour. Great fish.

Honestly, I have never actually tried to feed mine anything. I dont know if he would go for prepared foods, but when I feed my other fish its a mixture of just about everything. I use formula two, mysis, krill, brine shrimp, cyclops and some other stuff all washed and chopped up, but he never goes for it. Maybe its just too much chaos for him.... the other fish go nuts.:uzi::lmao:

I guess you just gotta get to know your Scooter and see what he likes.

You have to turn off the flow so the food will settle on the bottom. Then they will pick the food. If there's a lot of competition for the food, they will struggle to get their share. Sometimes, they'll need to be target fed with a baster.
