Scooter blennys

So I went to the LFS today to pick up my first fish, and I remember when i was a kid, I use to love scooter blennys.....so i wanted to pick one up, but I wanted to consult RC first. My tank is brand new, and it just got done cycling about a week ago, so this would be my first fish. The LFS told me that I would be OK and to just feed it Mysis shrimp.......but what do you think?

i have a scooter blenny you probably know this but its technicaly not a blenny its a dragenet, they love rock work to tinker with lots of caves and cracks for them to explore ussually you should wait until the tank has matured to add one but if your sure it will eat the shrimp you'll be feeding it then you should be fine. make sure the food is live, nothing frozen they will not tolerat it, as long as you have lots of rock work and the time to feed him 1-2 times per day with live shrimp, mine loves brine, you should be fine. they love to eat. pretty much all day there on the hunt for food.

These fish still need a decent amount of pods in their diet to live properly. They eat all day long. Cruising the rockwork and sand looking for pods. This is not a good fish for a new tank, or for a first fish at that. You were right for asking here fist. Your LFS was wrong on this one.

Why not try a pair of clownfish first. IMO, They are good beginner fish. Once your tank is mature and has a decent pod population then you can give a dragonet a try.

exactly, unless yours will eat cyclopeeze like mine:)

My LFS sucks then.......he also recommend that I get a mandarin, But I know better. Looks like im going to find another LFS....

I would still wait. Even if they ate frozen shrimp, I think a good part of their diet is pods for dragonets isn't it? Usually I guess 6 months minimum to a year people say to wait for mandarins, probably the same for scooter blennies.
