Does anyone know how big scopas tangs get? Fishbase lists them at 40cm! :eek1: THant can't be right....

Yeah, most likely anywhere between 8-12", probably closer to 10".

I have one, he's about 4 1/2" and still has a lot of growing to do.

In my experience Peter Zebrasoma grow much slower than other genera of tangs, and will not attain full adult size... I've had a tiny scopas for years I grew out of the larval stage almost... Are you thinking of getting one?

No, wasn't thinking of getting one (2 tangs are plenty in my tank :D ). I just always used to recommend them to people with smaller tanks since they do grow so slowly and I *thought* they were one of the smallest zebrasoma species (I've never seen one over 5" or 6"). Then I happen to see the fishbase listing and was surprised, so I just wanted to be sure I wasn't recommending a monster to people :)

Yeah just keep people away from the two sailfins and the other five species are good for smaller systems... I go by more of captive growth rate than wild with this... and the two sailfins seem to be the outliers...
