Scored Blue Haddoni Today

i am excited i finally got me a carpet for my snowflake clown. i have a massive 10" RBTA that i want to swap out for the blue haddoni.
at a LFS about 45 min from me called thatfishplace they send out 30% coupons often and i had 2 of them stored up. i was planning on only getting me a vortech MP40 with the coupon, but i seen the haddoni there and i had to get it! the carpet was selling for $169, but i only paid $110 for it! nice.
So armed with the other 30% coupon i grabbed a Vortech for only $310. i would say i had a great day shopping.
i know the carpet is a bit bleached but with my TLC it will be a stunner in te weeks to come. his mouth was open when i got him home but it has sinced closed up now and he is looking good. he attached to the rock where i put him right away and i hope he says there. hehe

now on to the pics!!

Hard to tell from those pics, but I think it is a Gig, and not a Haddoni.

What is the underside of the oral disc like? Smooth or some "bumps" ?

Yeah looks like a gig to me as well. One of my lfs's just got in 3 blue haddonis and a red haddoni which I may take a chance on (a blue one).

good luck!

good luck!

heres to hoping that he makes it!

Btw another vote that its a gig not a haddoni.

i think your right it is a gig. i looked at him again and it was either labled wrong, or i had a long drive home. hehe

Hi Todd, just wondering what the bumps would tell you. hadnt heard of that distinction, what is the association there?

The "bumps", called verrucae, are pretty apparent on the underside of the oral disc for Gigs, some Haddonis will have them, but they aren't very visible.

k thought you were saying that one species would have "bumps" or protruding verrucae whereas the other would have smooth verrucae. when you say bumps you just meant spots?

For this, bumps = verrucae. The underside of Gigs will have them. For Haddonis, it will be pretty much smooth -- some Haddonis will have them, but they won't be very noticeable.

I was able to get a pic of one of my Haddonis, and you can see the underside and how smooth it is. (( Not sure how the little zoa rock got under there, but just moved it. ))
