This tank will be 3 sided viewable; front right & top. I plan to build a 12" step all around the whole tank.

After playing with a couple tanks jammed pack full of LR, I've decided to go with a very open looking tank. I plan to keep over 25+ small fishes, so there will needs to be a bunch of caves & swimming room.

Tank will primarily be loaded with SPS, some zoas & chalices.

After trying to rush & complete the move before leaving to mammoth, I ended up losing a ton of coral. Starting to get use to it, oh well time to start collecting again.

Equipment List:

Tank:84x24x22 Custom 190G
Stand: Weird ugly one that will need to be cut & modified
Canopy: Floating Canopy
Sump: 20G full of LR - > 40BR /w 2 chambers -> 20g Fuge -> return
Lighting: 3x Lumenbrite 250w Galaxy /w Radium 20ks.
Return: Reeflo snapper -> SWCD
Flow:Vortech MP40w, 2x Modded Maxi-Jet & 2x Koralia #2
Skimmer: Octopus xtreme 160 (need to upgrade)



Day 1..

holy crap, it's going to be a mission to clean this garage...

This is Ryan, my little brother, autotopper, helper & future reef expert!

cleaned up a little enough to work.. 150g worth of barrels, 100g worth of sump, 20g refug, 30g skimmer chamer.. man it going to be fun to drain.

got the salt ready..

& the powerheads soaking in vinegar

I ended up getting about 70lbs of established LS from a local, too bad it was 3 years full of crap! I sat there for over 3 hours rinsing the sand.

tossed the sand into the tank with a skimmer to pull out as much crud as I coud

24 hours of skimmate, better then a bubbleking!!

draining the main tank, its was a very sad moment for me.

Shots of my corals after the move, sad to say I lost half of the sps. Stray voltage is NOT my friend, crashed my first tank & it came back around to get me again. CGFI didn't seem to help but oh well. Time to start the collection again..

time for a update. a long way from being finished.

I picked up a Octo Pro 250 from Deejay for a unbelievable price, it wasn't the best looking cosmetically but who cares, its in my sump! the skimmer came with a Sicce PSK-2500 /w pinwheel.

I let it break it run for about a week with the PW. problem was there was not enough air pull, too much water which caused alot of turbulence. water line was basically all the way towards top of the neck. BAH! ****ty performance.

Good thing I kept the meshwheel from my Octo Extreme 160. switched out the wheels,
lowered the water line 2 inches into the neck. Now I'm pulling this out WEEKLY.

Most of my corals are browned out, several of them receded from the base up after the move. I thought they were all goners, good news is they all have stopped receding and have actually started to color up intensely. I'd say by the end of the month they show all be back to normal.

My aquascape is left a minimum of 5" from all the walls so they can be properly cleaned. Pretty much my aquascape is done, only thing left is the middle tower/shelf that I need to build. Pictures don't do it justice, there is so much caves and open area for 6"+ fish to swim through.

I love my RBTA. he stays where I put him and never moves, no threat to any of my corals.

Please ignore the dirty back, I haven't cleaned it yet.

on another note.. I love t5s. do i miss the shimmer from MH, yes. Will I switch back, most likely not. the color of t5s are SEXY....

I'm short a couple powerheads, didn't realize when buying tunze they were so weak. lots of detritus has been settling on the sand. That and I ran skimmerless for about a week, 2 fish + 1 clam died and I just sold off 50lb of my liverock. It's going through a mini-cycle ATM.

All my corals are frags, I should have the tank filled out nicely in a year.

Started to setup a new frag tank today, too much frags taking up space in my sump.

Dimensions: 48x18x15

Lighting: Wavepoint 4x39 T5 retro

just added a 2nd ati fixture to light the left side.


I believe since the last update I have sold off my 2 tunze 6045 and downgraded to 2x 6025.
Added aTunze wavebox 6212, vortech mp40w and changed to a1 baffled sump

also added a pipefish, cool little thing
