Scratched acrylic help

I am trying to set-up my new (used) 240 gallon acrylic aquarium and I was wondering if there is an easier or faster way to get some of the scratches out of it. I am currently using Novus #3 and rubbing it perpendicular to the scratches by hand like the directions say, but it is taking forever. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you know approximately how long ago the thread was written? The Search function never seems to work, but I would be glad to manually look for it if I had an approximate place to start. Also, I have a buffer that I am planning on using after I get the deeper scratches out.
Thanks,
Bruce

I would use a Ryobi 6" random orbit buffer from HD (Lowes won't carry it). Follow the instructions for the buffer as well as the Novus polish. Here is a link or two, to help you along. Just remember that if you CAN'T feel the scratch with your fingernail, you probably DON'T need to use #3. And always test in an inconspicuous area first. :) For deep, deep scratches use micro mesh.

Check page 29-30: http://www.tropicalfishstore.com/tenecormanual.pdf

Just read the cleaning and scratch removal procedures:
http://www.blockwindowsdirect.com/maintenance.html

And for micro mesh:

As you can see, there are a few different methods. I hope this helps you.

just looked at Clarks build thread again. it has been a long time. does anyone know how everything is going. I know he lost a lot of stuff a while back and was going to get out. then I have heard nothing. I hope maybe he has decided to tuff it out and stick with it. It is a beautiful tank it would be a shame to be taken down. Just wondering.
