Screen/Netting Cover

Finding out the hard way that egg crate really doesn't work. :( Trying to find mesh or netting that I can use that blocks the least amount of light. Does anyone have any suggestions/sources?

Thanks,
Will

Tagging along. Someone suggested bird netting at lowes. The only bird netting I found at lowes was black and not clear. Also, it wasn't that closely knitted.

What do you mean it didn't work? Did something slip out the squares? Give us an idea what happened, and we may be able to help better.

Gary... Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. I remember seeing your post but could not find it again :)

Saltman, yes. I had 2 wrasses jump through in the past week. One I was able to get back in the tank in time to recover, one was not so fortunate.

I recently built a top from screen framing and the bird netting mentioned above. What I did was triple the screening, with all three pieces at different angles -- this way, you end up with small, triangular holes. My netting is black, but that doesn't seem to affect things; it still blocks less light than the old eggcrate did.

I used window screen frames and put in 1/4" mesh pond netting I got online at watergardens.org. It is black but doesn't seem to block any light and keeps the jumpers in. It was easy to use and very cheap.
