Roger,

I have a stream 6100, and the head broke off of the plastic screw holding the impeller in place. How would you recommend I get the screw out of the motor, and how would I go about getting a replacement screw and impeller?

Thanks.

You need new blades or just the screw. I have the screws they are about $1, I could mail one for 60c. The best way I have found to get them out is

A: Take a dremel and cut a slot across, doesn't matter if you cut the shaft a bit, and unscrew it with a small slotted screwdriver.

B: Heat up a screw driver with a torch or gas stove and when it is glowing red jab it into the screw and then the plastic will harden back up stuck to it and you can unscrew it. Only do this if you have some small screwdriiver you don't care about because odds are pretty good you will ruin them, and be careful not to get burned. I only add this if you don't have a dremel.

well...that process didn't go so well. After cutting a slit in the top of the screw I found that the plastic was too soft to hold a anything in the slot (it kept stripping when I tried to turn it). while trying to remove the drive unit from the housing I broke the shaft (that the screw is in) off (see "Caution ! Danger of breakage !" in the manual). Anyways, I destroyed everything up to the magnet on the drive unit trying to get the drive unit out of the pump. It seems pretty calcified, strange the alarm on the pump just went off the other day and I soaked it in vinegar for 2 days after that before attempting any of this. I have it soaking in vinegar again to try to get the magnet out of the housing. What would a whole new drive unit cost?

Thanks again.

Give me a call and I'll help you out. Today is pretty hectic for me, I will be gone from 12:30 to 5pm. If you leave a message though I'll call you later on today.
