Im curious to know if your using carbon! A lott studies seem to indicate this but dont have first hand experience so cant say!

Try doing more WC and adding vitamin to their food should help. Did the fish recently come out of copper treatment? If it did just give it a couple of months they should recover.
You can try some small clams usually for human food. On this side of the pond we call it manila clam. Drop a open clam near the angel. It won't float away so the angel can have a chance to eat it. Both of my scribble are going nuts toward clams, even during QT period.

I did run carbon, maybe a couple of cups. I'm not sure if it was the cause of the HLLE though. During that time, I didn't soak my foods, so that could be it too. The HLLE came on really fast, but it doesnt look like it is getting any worse.
I've been doing A LOT of big WC since noticing the HLLE and have been soaking my food. Removed carbon, but just recently put it back b/c my water was getting way too cloudy soaking food with A LOT of Zoecon/Selecon. I've been adding Kent's essential elements about twice a week too.
Its mainly just the pomacanthus angels(Blueface/Passer/Chrysurus) that has the HLLE. I've seen one guy said he's had 3-4 emperors, and they all had HLLE.
They were all treated with cupramine and I have seen my angels get HLLE during Cupramine before. But these fish were HLLE free when they entered my DT.
Too many variables involved for me say what definitely caused the HLLE...
Its really holding me back from doing a big upgrade though.

How's the HLLE issue? Have you figured out the cause? I noticed mine getting HLLE in hypo.

I am not familiar with sexing this fish... what characteristics are usually indicative of male or female?
Below is a picture of a male and a female. From what I have seen and heard, male has horizontal lines instead of just scribble, crescent shape tail and dots on tail.

It could be a male cause i noticed the females have a more dark purpleish type of color as opposed to the blue. Yours seemed to be more on the blue side. Not sure if its just tje lighting though. I have two scribbled and still hoping the smaller one turns to a male.

I think its just hit and miss if they will become male or not. Having two does not make a difference I dont believe.
I had two scribbled in my 180g, but the changing scribbled(6.5") will bite and chase the smaller scribbled(4") non-stop. The smaller one wouldnt make it pass a day alive if I tried to introduce it again. I tried eggcrate, acclimation box, etc for weeks.
Others has had better luck than me with having 2 in a tank. I've also seen some saying their male scribbled is one of the meanest fish in the tank.
So I guess its all hit and miss and is all dependent on the individual fish.

Probably less since theres so few male scribbled angels for sale.
Just my guess. They don't start changing til around 5". My female
grows at a much slower rate it seems as well.
When scribbled angels are in season, DD will sometimes sell M/F pairs.
It would suck to get 2 and both remain female. Females are nice,
but not as good looking as males.

Not sure if it will work. My experience with having 2 isnt good.
However I do know one guy that bought a M/F pair off DD last yr and it is working out for him.

Just spoke to the folks at bluezooaquatics.... They told me that scribbled angels will all turn into a terminal male unless it has a reason not to. A reason would be if there already is a terminal male in the system.
They said it takes about 5-7 years for this to happen. Sometimes longer. These guys really know their stuff and have always helped me out with info.
So, I guess my question is has anyone kept a scribbled angel from a juvenile that remained a female til full grown? It would have to be the only angel in the tank and raised from a juvenile til 5-7 years old or 8 inches long.

I'm not sure I buy the all scribbled will turn male thought. Male scribbled seem just so rare. I've never heard of that either. I think if the fish s completely full grown, it will not transition to a male.
