SCRK- September 16th 2012 @ 6pm- AoA- Guest Speaker Scott Fellman & Apex Lite Raffle

Hey SCRK!

We are pleased to announce our next Southern California Reef Keepers meeting Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at Age Of Aquariums in Signal Hill! This month is going to be another great meeting, as we have Scott Fellman, reef geek extraordinaire coming to our meeting to speak! See below for his bio.

Also, we are trying to get more prizes that you members enjoy and use so this month we grabbed an Neptune Systems Apex Lite for the raffle! This is a great entry level controller for you aquarium that can monitor and control quite a few different parameters and equipment. We will also have some other live and dry goods so you won't want to miss the raffle.

There will be drinks and snacks, along with a frag tank for members to buy, sell or trade corals.

You don't have to be a member to attend the meeting. Come on out!

When: Sunday, September 16th, 2012
Where: Age of Aquarium
2642 Cherry Ave, Signal Hill CA

Time: 6pm

Our speaker's BIO-

"My name is Scott Fellman, and I'm the consummate "œreef geek"! I bleed saltwater!

Much of my life centers around tweaking my protein skimmer, scraping algae, cleaning up spills, or figuring out how to unglue my fingers. I've been keeping marine aquariums since I was 12 years old, and during that time, I have maintained all sorts of aquariums, fish bowls, plastic boxes, and just about anything that can hold water. My passions are aquascaping and marine biotope aquariums. I love this hobby and the crazy people in it!

I've mentored fellow hobbyists since 2002 on Bob Fenner's WetWebMedia site, and I was Co-Editor of WWM's Conscientious Aquarist online magazine for a couple of years. I served as president of my local club, the Marine Aquarium Society of Los Angeles County, in 2006. I've written a number of articles for Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine, Ultramarine UK, Marine Fish and Reef USA Annual, "œC" Journal, and other online venues.

In addition to my writing, I have racked up the frequent-flyer miles, travelling all over the U.S. speaking at clubs and events about all sorts of reef-related stuff. I presented at MACNA XIX in Pittsburgh, IMAC 2008 in Chicago, MACNA XX in Atlanta, and MACNA XI in Atlantic City, MACNA XXII in Orlando,as well as IMAC West in Long Beach, and Reef-a-Palooza in SoCal.

When I'm not trying to replicate the ocean in my aquariums, I'm usually surfing in it at my local beach, dining at new restaurants (another great love), watching ice hockey, or SCUBA diving. "

Kelly and I will be there, will be a busy weekend for me as I have to work the Sand Sports Super Show, make a quick trip to Coral Farmers Market in Ontario and then the SCRK meeting at Age of Aquariums in Long Beach, and try to fit in my daughters Soccer game.

Wife birthday or Scott. you killing Cody

Like I reign supreme and make these decisions all by myself! Ha well its the 3rd Sunday of the month... our normal meeting date and time.

CFM ends at 4 so there is plenty of time to get to the meeting even if you stay till the end. I plan to go early out there and stay till maybe 1pm. It doesn't take long to walk and see it all unless you wanna stay and mingle.

i'll be there, im bringing my mini colonies of polyps to sell ranging from 7+ polyps on each frag plug of Paradise, Rastas and BBEB. Looking to sell all together for $325 or $180 for the Paradise, $80 for the rastas $80 for the BBEB. Prices are firm. If you were at the last SCRK meeting my rastas and BBEB where there. I am not fragging them, so please don't ask. Funds are going to my new tank build that's almost complete. Just lacking lighting, dosing pumps, and reef controller.
