As far as local shops go, watch out, there are about 4 reputable ones and then a bunch I wouldn't trust to teach anyone.
The shop that I think gives the best education is The Dive Station on Edgewater drive. It is a ruff class through them and they tend to have higher standards for their students. But if you don't have thick skin I wouldn't recommend it.
