Hey, Iam going to be going to Cuba and the resoprt iam at is going to teach me how to do both along with taking me out when ever i want :) I was just wondering if anyone have done this in cuba? and what do you think is better Scuba or snorkeling ? and what should i expect ? is it hard ?
Thanks

Those of us living in the USA are unlikely to admit going to Cuba. Scuba is in a different league than snorkeling although I enjoy both.

Closet to Cuba I've been diving is Little Cayman. From what I've heard about diving in Cuba, it should be excellent. Like Steve, I like both SCUBA and Snorkeling. The Scuba divers that ignore snorkeling are missing out on some cool stuff in the shallows. I highly recommend getting Scuba certified, and still snorkeling ;)

Yes, I have to agree with the above. I have done a LOT of diving in all sorts of exotic locations but I still LOVE to put on sun protection (you can get really fried) such as a 3 mm and just hang out in the shallows. If you practice the art of not moving, all sorts of animals ignore you as being nonthreatening and you can see some really cool stuff. I can remember a 2 hour snorkel (Sandy's Ledge in the BVI) that was magical.

Billsreef and snorvich hit the nail on the head! While you can see a whole different world at depth with scuba, exploring the shallows with a snorkel can open up alot of viewing/photo opportunities.

While on an anniversary cruise to Cozumel, I chose not to scuba dive, but the wife and I snorkeled in the park there, it was good but the memory/experience is what lasts!

I've never scuba dived before. I like the ease of snorkeling - just need fins and a snorkel. I've seen very cool stuff mantas, green turtles, hawksbills, tangs, anemones, staghorn, montipora etc. snorkeling.

scuba is a ton better. I lived in cuba for 12 yrs on the naval base, but did tons of diving all around there. Probably the best diving there is in caribbean. I have dove all over and very few locations came close at all. Very untouched. If you can dive, DIVE!!! Where are you going in cuba?

As long as you are comfortable in the water, you should have a great time diving and/or snorkeling. Practice playing in the dive tank at your local swimming pool, getting comfortable with the weightlessness.

Veradero is a great place to dive, I'd look around there.

Well i got back from cuba about 2 weeks ago. I did go snorkeling and scuba diving. Both were great I saw many different fish and different pieces of coral etc. I also saw a really big barracuda like 7+feet long !
