Scuba diving with fmas

treeman, if you run the pics of you in the ocean through photoshop, using the auto color adjustment, you can get those shots to look really good, it actually brings the colors back. i use to have the same problem until i got strobes. btw how do i join fmas and who do i pay?

Play with the levels some too. Try auto levels, if you don't like that, do the blue, green, and red channels each separately. Work with the high and low levels of each color. It is amazing how much clearer dive pics become when doing this. Tons of old pics that I didn't think were that great have been coming out sweet just working with the levels. Thanks for sharing and enjoy becoming divers. Stay safe and have fun!

All of those pics were run thru another program. I tried photoshop and didn't like the graininess of them. I just didn't spend the time to do them all. If I decided to print a few, I would spend a lot more time. The visibility was not all that good that day either. You could see about 30 but it was foggy. So the camera picks up all of that stuff. I think I need to learn how to take bette underwater shots to begin with. My Sony has an underwater setting and I use that but am not sure that is really the best one for the job. I will try exactly what you are saying and see if I can get them better. I want strobes but with the camera I have(a small point and shoot) I hate to spend the money and then go to a better camera that they will not work with.

You can join the club at www.fmas1955.org You can pay with paypal or come to a meeting and join there.

I think the pics I posted before were all from me being on the surface. I think these are better to begin with since I was at depth.

Took me less than 10 seconds to do changes in PS, a minute or 2 to save, upload, and post link. Could be better, but just to give you an idea. Just played with the blue and green levels only.

The new ones look better, nice.

Look at this little highhat.

Here is the pic with the other program and the next one is the same pic with auto levels in Photoshop. Much better.

I suggest that FMAS consider doing other dive courses, there's lots to learn.

Aquanauts is willing to offer FMAS members as advanced a course as you want. There has to be enough interest though.

Who wants in for what?? Im in for Advanced Open Water.

any other dates for the dive cert? Havent been able to do the two classes offered since my schedule has been a mess.

My son is in the first class. They had a delay and took their test Friday night instead of the pool. So they did the pool on Saturday and the first two dives on Sunday morning. They are supposed to complete the last dive this weekend, maybe with you guys on Sunday.

I sat in on a lot of the class' and took some pics in the pool and the first beach dives. I hope to get some of the pics up tonight. My son is hooked on this and can't stop talking about it. Worth is a very thorough and friendly teacher, he knows his stuff and is very patient. I would recommend him to anybody. I wish I had him as a teacher when I got certified back in 85.

Hey treeman....are they ok with us sitting in on the classes? im certified. my fiance is getting certified this week. Are they ok with people coming in and just sitting in on the classes and going to the pool with them friday and the beach sat?

Im interested in the advanced open water, let us know when you have pricing for that. I recommend you guys also get nitrox if your gonna do mini lobster season, you get alot more bottom time.

I sat in on a little of the meetings but I am sure it all depends on space in the classroom. You would need to talk to Worth to see if there is room when you get there at the first class. The room is small, if there is 10 or so people, I doubt there would be any room. But Coconuts is right next door and the beach is across the street, Elbow Room is a block or two down the road.

I agree, Worth is very nice. They do have a larger class room upstairs but im not sure wich he will be using this time.

This class will be larrger than last. So far 10 possibly 11.

The Elbow room a block or two down????!!!!. Im just going to have to sacrifice myself and have a beer. :)
